Town Of Vienna Offers Jobs, Bill Extensions For Federal Workers
Workers furloughed during the federal shutdown can apply for jobs and extensions for the water bill.

Jan. 15 UPDATE: All Town of Vienna positions available to furloughed workers have been filled.
VIENNA, VA—The Town of Vienna is offering part-time jobs and extensions on water bills for federal employees who are furloughed during the government shutdown.
"News outlets report that approximately 78 percent of federal employees live paycheck to paycheck, and many of those are hourly workers," says Human Resources Director Maggie Kain in a statement. "If the Town can contribute just a bit to the cause of helping our neighbors, why not do it?"

The due dates for Town of Vienna water bills due on Jan. 31 will be extended for federal employees until the federal government reopens. Federal employees can apply for the payment extension with a proof of federal employment at the finance counter at Town Hall. The office is open from 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Monday-Friday. Late fees will be waived.
Limited part-time positions are available in the parks and public works departments. The jobs will run for the next four weeks. Duties include assisting at the community center front desk, parks maintenance work, and filing and scanning. The Town is using funds available due to turnover.

Furloughed employees living in the Town of Vienna will have priority in the hiring process. Federal employees interested in these part-time opportunities may apply online at viennava.gov/employment or in person at Town Hall or call Human Resources at 703-255-6362.
