Trash Compactor Catches Fire At Nutley Street Store

Firefighters responded to the fire at a store just south of Vienna.

FAIRFAX, VA—A trash compactor caught fire at a store just south of Vienna Friday.

Firefighters responded to the 3000 block of Nutley Street SW with smoke showing from the rear of the building, according to a Fairfax County Fire and Rescue tweet from 11:17 a.m. Crews worked to extinguish the fire, as all occupants safely evacuated.

The trash compactor was pulled from the building, and the fire did not extend into the building. Crews remained on scene to clear smoke from the building.
