U.S. News Ranks Oakton High As One of Virginia's Best
Oakton High in Vienna moved up to fourth best high school in Virginia in U.S. News and World Report's rankings.

VIENNA, VA -- Oakton High School is ranked the fourth best high school in Virginia, up one place from 2016. Madison High School was not ranked.
The annual list of best high schools in the country ranks the schools on national and state levels. Overall, Oakton High ranked 198th best high school in the country, down from 162nd last year.

In a profile of Oakton High, U.S. News says, "The AP participation rate at Oakton High School is 81 percent. The student body makeup is 53 percent male and 47 percent female, and the total minority enrollment is 44 percent."

U.S. News assigned schools medals for their college readiness, based on graduation rates and state test scores. Oakton High earned a gold medals with a 71.3 college readiness index score and 97 percent graduation rate. Fifteen Virginia high schools were given gold medals by U.S. News, 39 received silver medals and the remaining 27 schools received bronze medals.
Compared with other states, Virginia came in 11th, with 16.9 percent of the state’s schools receiving silver or gold medals.
