Vehicles Rummaged Through In Vienna: Police

In late April, a Vienna officer found cars with contents spilled on the floors and lights on, according to the latest crime report.

VIENNA, VA — Several vehicles were broken into during late April, according to the latest Vienna Police crime report.

Around 1:48 a.m. on April 29, an officer found several vehicles parked on Locust Street between Glyndon Street and Branch Road appeared to have been rummaged through. Police say the interior lights were on, and contents of the glove compartments were on the floor.

Police attempted to contact the vehicle owners and do not believe anything valuable was taken.

April 29 between 4:00 a.m. and 11:47 a.m.
A resident reported that he clicked on a link through a social media account and was taken to a page that advised him that his bank account had been hacked and money was transferred from the account. The resident called the phone number that was provided and believed he was speaking to a representative that would assist him in resolving the matter. The representative instructed the resident to purchase a large sum of gift cards. Once the resident purchased the cards and provided the representative with the card’s numbers, he realized it was a scam.

April 30 between 3:44 p.m. and 4:20 p.m.
A citizen reported that her wallet was stolen from her purse while she was shopping.

538 Maple Avenue, West 22-003960
April 25 8:45 p.m.
Vehicle-2 was traveling eastbound on Maple Avenue. Vehicle-1 was exiting the lot of 538 Maple Avenue when the two vehicles collided. After the initial collision, Vehicle-2 ran up onto the median and struck a road sign. Driver-1 was issued a summons charging Failure to Yield Before Entering a Highway.

May 2 3:32 p.m.
Vehicle-1, a dump truck with the roll-over bar extended, was backing out of a construction site.
As Vehicle-1 began to drive away, the bar snagged electrical lines. The lines severed the utility
pole and the electrical wire fell to the ground causing a fire on a lawn. The fire department and
Dominion Power immediately responded. Driver-1 was issued a summons charging improper backing.
