Vienna 2022 Holiday Decorating Contest Winners Named

VIENNA, VA — Winners of the Town of Vienna Holiday Decorating Contest were announced Friday at the town's Holiday Reception at the Vienna Community Center.

The contest held by the Town Business Liaison Committee and Vienna Parks and Recreation sought nominations for home and business holiday displays. Residents were encouraged to visit and vote for their favorite home and business display, and judges selected their top three business displays. Nominees could earn bonus points by putting a caboose somewhere in their display, a nod to Vienna's railway history.

Pennywise Thrift Shop was first in the business category, followed by Karin’s Florist in second place, and Vienna Paint and Decorating Company in third place. As the winning business, Pennywise Thrift Shop will receive one volunteer hour from Mayor Linda Colbert as a guest employee.

The People's Choice Award for best business display went to Trace the Zero Waste Store.

The first place winner of the home display category was 317 Patrick St., SW, followed by 121 Casmar St. SE in second place and 206 Center St. N. in third place. Winners received a gift card from a local business and a 2022 Town of Vienna holiday ornament.

The contest had a record number of votes. Over 1,000 votes were cast, which is up more than 50 percent from 2021.
