VIENNA, VA - From Town of Vienna: The recently renovated Vienna Community Center isn’t only bigger and better – it’s also golden. The community center has received gold-level LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification through the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC).

The most widely used green building rating system in the world, according to the USGBC
website, the LEED program provides a framework to create healthy, highly efficient, and cost-
saving green buildings.

The Vienna Community Center attained gold-level certification through its new
construction/major renovation project, which was completed in 2017.

“We knew going into the renovation project that our goal was to have a silver-level LEED-
certified building,” says Mayor Laurie DiRocco. “We’re very excited to have exceeded our goal
and proud to have this recognition of Vienna’s commitment to enhancing sustainability.”

The Vienna Community Center received 62 of 110 possible LEED points, qualifying the building
and construction project for the second-highest rating available through the USGBC program.
RRMM Lukmire Architects managed the LEED certification process for this project.
