Vienna Crime: Burglar Attempts to Steal Kitchen Stove from Vacant Property
Also, latest Town of Vienna Police Department crime report shows two dogs tangled with a groundhog.

The following summary contains various incidents of general interest handled by the Town of Vienna, Virginia Police Department from May 15, 2015 – May 21, 2015. Readers are reminded that an “arrest” is based upon probable cause and does not always mean that someone was physically taken into custody. Furthermore, it does not mean that an individual is automatically guilty of a crime. Judicial outcomes and post-arrest proceedings can be researched through the appropriate court’s website.

INCIDENTS
Animal Case – Quarantine 15-005058 The Rose Restaurant 126 Maple Avenue, West May 13 3:30 p.m.

An employee reported he had been bitten on both hands while attempting to remove a stray cat from the restaurant.
The employee had never seen the cat before and was unable to provide a description. The employee was informed he may need to receive the Rabies vaccine as a precaution.
Lost Property 15-004893 Just Dollar 138 Maple Avenue, West May 15 between 7:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. A resident reported he had lost his wallet. He stated the last place he remembered having it was at the Just Dollar Store.
Juvenile Case 15-004887 The Cedar Lane School 101 Cedar Lane, SW May 15 10:26 a.m.
A school employee reported a female student, who appeared to be intoxicated, had left the school grounds without permission.
Sgt. Farhan responded and after locating the student, he was able to convince her to return to the school.
The school will handle any disciplinary actions they deem necessary.
Fraud 15-004890 100 Block Tapawingo Road, SE May 15 2:12 p.m. A resident reported he was informed an unknown person had used his personal information to file a Federal Tax Return.
This case is being investigated.
Domestic Dispute 15-004899 Melody Lane, SW May 15 6:02 p.m. A resident reported she and her son became involved in a heated argument. PFC Kiley responded, and after speaking with both the mother and her son, the son stated he would leave the residence at his mother’s request.
Burglary 15-005007 500 Block Lewis Street, NW Between May 16 at 12:01 a.m. and May 17 at 11:59 p.m. The owner of a vacant property reported someone had forced entry into the residence and unsuccessfully attempted to remove the kitchen stove. However, a lawn mower had been taken from a shed at the rear of the house.
This case is being investigated.
Suspicious Event 15-004943 Peterson Lane Park 575 Malcolm Road, NW May 16 8:56 a.m.
A resident reported suspicious vehicles had been parking at the park.
MPO Shaver responded and spoke with the owner of one of the vehicles, a Town of Vienna employee, who stated he is using the park for a Soccer Camp being run by the Town of Vienna.
Vandalism 15-004946 400 Block Yeonas Street, SW May 16 11:01 a.m. A resident reported he and his wife were sitting in the kitchen when they heard the sound of glass breaking. The resident went to investigate and discovered a lawn ornament had been thrown through the glass of the side door. Neither the resident nor his wife was able to see who may have thrown the ornament.
MPO Shaver spoke with several neighbors who were unable to provide any further information.
Disorderly Conduct 15-004954 Maple Avenue at Pleasant Street, SW May 16 5:53 p.m. A Fairfax Connector Bus Driver reported an individual was on the bus causing a public disturbance by cursing and making threats.
PFC Kiley responded and was informed by the driver he wanted the individual removed from the bus. The disruptive rider informed PFC Kiley he was upset with the bus service and wanted to file a complaint.
The rider was informed of the driver’s request and complied without further incident.
Noise Violation 15-004966 Giant Foods 359 Maple Avenue, East May 16 10:41 p.m.
A resident reported delivery trucks continually load and unload at the loading dock creating excessive noise.
Officer Reedy responded and located a parked delivery truck that was not running, and therefore was not in violation of the Town Ordinance. The resident was contacted and informed of the rules pertaining to the commercial loading and unloading of trucks.
Animal Case – Quarantine 15-005057 900 Block Country Club Drive, NE May 17 12:00 p.m. ACO Barker received a report that an out of town citizen had been bitten by a Town of Vienna resident’s dog.
The owner of the dog was contacted and informed of the quarantine process. She requested she be able to quarantine the dog in her home.
ACO Barker will follow up with this case.
Animal Case 15-005021 100 Block Courthouse Road, SW May 18 8:16 p.m. A resident reported a deer had become stuck in a fence in his backyard.
Officer Tremont responded and determined the deer could not be saved.
Arrest – Narcotics Violation 15-005022 Moore Avenue at Cottage Street, SW May 18 9:22 p.m. Officer Herrera was on patrol when he observed a vehicle with defective equipment. As a result of the equipment defect he conducted a traffic stop. Upon his interaction with the driver he located a measurable amount of marijuana.
The driver, an 18 year old man from Vienna, was issued a summons for Possession of Marijuana and released.
Animal Case – Quarantine 15-005052 The Hope Center 140 Park Street, SE May 18 10:30 p.m.
An employee reported she had been attempting to perform a medical procedure on Indy, an 11 year old Shih-Tzu, when she was bitten on the hand.
ACO Barker contacted the Hope Center and was informed that Indy was being released to go back home to Arlington. The Arlington Animal Welfare League was contacted and will follow up with this case.
Animal Case – Quarantine 15-005121 The Hope Center 140 Park Street, SE May 21 5:45 a.m.
An employee reported she was bitten on the hand while attempting to perform a medical procedure on Ndoki, a 3 year old Australian Cattle dog.
The employee informed ACO Barker the Hope Center would quarantine Ndoki and notify him prior to his release.
Animal Case – Quarantine 15-005109 1300 Block Ross Drive, SW May 21 7:30 a.m. A resident reported that her two dogs had been involved in an altercation with a groundhog. Upon the arrival of ACO Barker the groundhog was deceased.
ACO Barker informed the resident that the groundhog would be taken to the Fairfax County Animal Control Center to be tested for rabies. She was also informed of the quarantine process for her dogs in the event the groundhog tested positive for rabies.
ACO Barker will follow up with the case.
Narcotics Violation 15-005111 The Cedar Lane School 101 Cedar Lane, SW May 21 8:38 a.m.
An employee reported a student had left the school grounds and when he returned he appeared to be under the influence of marijuana.
PFC Tracy responded, and after speaking with the student, he confirmed the employee’s suspicion.
The employee stated the school would handle the discipline internally.
Animal Case 15-005130 400 Block East Street, NE May 21 9:33 p.m. PFC Kiley responded to the area for the report of a rabbit running in circles. He determined the rabbit had suffered some type of injury and contacted a Fairfax County Animal Control Officer to assist with capturing the rabbit.
The rabbit was captured and then transported to the Fairfax County Animal Shelter.
