Vienna's Fireworks Scheduled Before July 4 Due To Staffing Limitations
Limited staff availability for July 4 fireworks displays prompted the Town of Vienna to schedule its fireworks for a different date.

VIENNA, VA — For the second consecutive year, Vienna's fireworks will be held on a date other than July 4.
The town government announced the Fourth of July event will be held on Sunday, July 2 at Yeonas Park, 1319 Ross Drive SW, Vienna, VA. Festivities will begin at 4 p.m., and the fireworks display will start at 9:30 p.m.
The move to July 2 was due to staffing shortages among pyrotechnic operators.

"We are disappointed that we were again unable to secure a fireworks company for the traditional 4th of July event this year," said Vienna Parks and Recreation Director Leslie Herman. "While July 2 is not our preferred date, we are excited to contract with Garden State Fireworks to provide the fireworks display for the Town’s Independence Day Celebration on Sunday, July 2, after which the company will head to Washington, D.C. to finalize details for the national fireworks display on July 4."
The Fourth of July event will feature live music, children's entertainment and more family activities beginning at 4 p.m. The Vienna Little League's concession stand will be open for food and drink sales.

The fireworks display at 9:30 p.m. will last around 20 minutes. For safety reasons, the fireworks display is launched from Southside Park but is viewable from Yeonas Park.

Street closures are planned from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. for the event. Ross Drive will be closed from Cottage Street to George Street, and Patrick Street and George Street will be closed from Cottage Street to Ross Drive.
Parking is encouraged at Thoreau Middle School, 2505 Cedar Ln, Vienna, VA, and Cedar Park Shopping Center (only spaces shown in link), 260 Cedar Ln. Vienna, VA. Accessible parking will be provided at Patrick Street and Patrick Circle.
The Fourth of July event takes place in the midst of Vienna's third annual Liberty Amendments Month. The event celebrates Constitutional amendments that extended rights to more people — the 13th, 14th, 15th and 19th Amendments. This year's event will happen from June 17 to July 17.
