VIENNA, VA — The Town of Vienna is filled with plentiful displays of holiday lights, but only a few homes and businesses came out on top.

Homes and businesses within the Town of Vienna were invited to submit their holiday displays for the annual Shine Bright Vienna Holiday Decorating Contest. Members of the Town Business Liaison Committee judged the business contest, and members of the public were invited to visit nominated displays and vote for their favorite home and business.

Winners were announced Friday at the Town of Vienna's Holiday Reception. In the residential display category, the first place winner was 121 Casmar St., SE. Second place went to 317 Patrick St., SW, and third place went to 524 Walker St., SW. Winning residents received a gift card from a local business and a 2023 Town of Vienna holiday ornament.

In the business category, Trousseau came out in first place. Trousseau won one volunteer hour from Mayor Linda Colbert as a guest employee. The People's Choice Award went to Pennywise Thrift Shop, and Trace - The Zero Waste Store received an honorable mention. The honorable mention award, which was a new part of the contest, goes to a business that was the most creative to celebrate Vienna Elementary School's 150th anniversary. Trace - The Zero Waste Store's display included snowflake ornaments created by Vienna Elementary students.

The annual holiday contest is held by the Town Business Liaison Committee and Vienna Parks and Recreation. A record 1,167 votes were cast in this year's contest. Nominees could earn bonus points by including Vienna Elementary School in their displays in honor of the school's 150th anniversary.
