Vienna Is One Of Virginia's Safest Cities: Ranking

Vienna ranked high among Virginia's safest cities, thanks to its low violent and property crime rates.

VIENNA, VA—Virginia has already been recognized as one of the country's safest states, but do you know if your city is among the safest in the Old Dominion?

Safewise, an online home security and safety resource, ranked cities based on violent crime and property crime per 1,000 people. The site analyzed 2015 FBI crime data and population statistics for cities with at least 3,000 people.

Vienna comes in at sixth, a jump from eighth last year. The town has an average 0.54 violent crimes per 1,000 people and 9.01 property crimes per 1,000 people.

A handful of other Northern Virginia cities came in near the top, including Purcellville at third, Manassas Park at seventh and Falls Church at 20th. Based on the 2015 FBI report, only one of the top 20 cities reported a murder, while most reported 20 or fewer violent crimes.
