Vienna Police Investigating Death at Wolf Trap Hotel
Police also receive call about a Peeping Tom. A look at the most recent crime reported by the Town of Vienna Police Department.

The following summary contains various incidents of general interest as well as vehicular crashes handled by the Town of Vienna, Virginia Police Department from March 27, 2015 – April 02, 2015. Readers are reminded that an “arrest” is based upon probable cause and does not always mean that someone was physically taken into custody. Furthermore, it does not mean that an individual is automatically guilty of a crime. Judicial outcomes and post-arrest proceedings can be researched through the appropriate court’s website.

Lost Property 15-003440 7-11 537 Maple Avenue, West Between January 16 at 2:30 p.m. and January 20 at 12:00 p.m. A citizen reported her son had stopped at the 7-Eleven after school and due to 7-Eleven policy he was not permitted to take his Oboe in the store. Her son returned five days later and discovered the Oboe was gone.
Grand Larceny 15-003405 1000 Block Lynn Street, SW Between February 03 at 12:00 p.m. and March 17 at 12:00 p.m. A resident reported he discovered a plastic jar containing an undetermined amount of money had gone missing from his parent’s home.
This case is being investigated.
Grand Larceny 15-003309 200 Block Courthouse Road, SW Between March 12 at 12:00 p.m. and March 27 at 12:28 p.m. A resident reported that while he was in the hospital someone entered his residence and had taken several items of his personal property.
MPO Shaw responded and found no forced entry into the residence.
This case is being investigated.
Destruction of Property 15-003129 Cedar Lane School 101 Cedar Lane, SW Between March 12 at 1:00 p.m. and March 13 at 2:00 p.m. A student reported that after an argument with another student, she took his cellular telephone and threw it across the gymnasium breaking it into several pieces.
This case is being investigated.
Assault 15-003102 Cedar Lane School 101 Cedar Lane, SW March 13 12:20 p.m. On March 23, MPO Shaw responded to the Cedar Lane School after a student wished to report an assault that had occurred on March 13.
The student reported that she and another student became involved in a verbal argument that escalated when he struck her. MPO Shaw interviewed the male student who stated he had been assaulted first. He also stated the girl threw his cellphone and damaged it (See Case Number 15- 003129 above).
This case is being investigated.
Suspicious Event 15-003469 2400 Block Oak Vale Court, NW Between March 24 at 12:00 p.m. and March 31 at 6:00 p.m. A resident reported when she returned home from vacation she found what appeared to be pry marks on the frame of her front door. She stated the door was secure and no one appeared to have gained entry into her home.
The resident requested extra patrols in the area.
Medical Case 15-003162 Rite Aid 215 Maple Avenue, West March 24 1:39 p.m. Officer Slebonick responded to the area after receiving a report of an individual running in between vehicles on Maple Avenue. After locating the individual Officer Slebonick was approached by employees of neighboring businesses who informed him the individual had been in their business and acting in an irrational and aggressive manner.
Officer Slebonick transported the individual to an area hospital for treatment.
Animal Case 15-003359 10000 Block Murmame Street March 24 7:00 p.m. A resident reported he had been bitten by a friend’s dog. The resident was reluctant to report the bite as he did not want to get his friend in trouble.
ACO Barker convinced him to seek medical attention as a precaution. A Fairfax County Animal Control Officer will follow up with this case as the dog and owner live outside the Town of Vienna.
Arrest – Driving While Intoxicated 15-003262 Maple Avenue at Pleasant Street, NW March 27 1:43 a.m. Officer Reedy was on patrol when he observed the driver of a vehicle commit a series of traffic offenses. As a result of those offenses he conducted a traffic stop. Upon his interaction with the driver he detected the signs of possible impairment. After failing to complete a series of field sobriety tests he arrested the 29 year old man from Great Falls, Virginia for Driving While Intoxicated.
The man was transported to the Vienna Police Station where he was given the opportunity to provide a sample of his breath for an analysis. After the analysis he was transported to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center where he was charged with Driving While Intoxicated and was to be held until he was sober.
Police Service 15-003275 The Vienna Police Station 215 Center Street, South March 27 4:44 p.m.
A concerned citizen responded to the Vienna Police Station with an elderly female she had found wandering in the area of Beulah Road and Ayr Hill Avenue, NE. The citizen stated the female appeared to be in need of assistance.
MPO Nelson attempted to ascertain the elderly woman’s address; however she was unable to provide any personal information. He was able to locate relatives of the woman after learning she had been involved in similar incidents in the past.
The relatives were contacted and responded to the police station to take their mother home. MPO Nelson provided the family information on county programs that could help the family with ways of ensuring their mother would be returned home safely, should she find herself in the same situation again.
Animal Case 15-003277 400 Block MaCarthur Avenue, NE March 27 4:58 p.m. A resident reported that an older black lab had been roaming through the neighborhood. MPO Nelson responded and found the lab did not have a license or any information that would lead to the owner’s identity. As he was transporting the dog to the Fairfax County Animal Shelter a resident telephoned the Vienna Police Department to report her dog “Smokey” had gone missing.
MPO Nelson determined the dog he was transporting and Smokey were the same. Smokey was transported back to the police station and reunited with his owner who was counseled on the need to obtain a Town of Vienna Animal License to ensure Smokey could be returned home safely in the future.
Found Property 15-003280 500 Block Glyndon Street, NE March 27 6:20 p.m. Officer Herrera responded to the area after a citizen reported a Trek Mountain Bike had been abandoned in the area.
The bike will be held at the Vienna Police Station until the owner can be identified.
Domestic Dispute 15-003307 Glyndon Street, SE March 28 11:12 a.m. A resident reported that he and his daughter had been involved in a heated argument that turned physical when he attempted to forcibly take her cell phone away. MPO Vazquez spoke with the daughter who confirmed her father’s account of the incident.
The daughter agreed to stay with her mother for the evening to allow for a cooling off period.
Undetermined Death 15-003310 The Wolf Trap Hotel 430 Maple Avenue, West March 28 1:40 p.m.
An employee reported when she attempted to enter a room to clean she discovered the door was locked from the inside. The employee was able to look inside the window and observed an individual lying on the floor.
MPO Shaw responded and along with members of the Fairfax Fire and Rescue Department it was determined the individual had been deceased.
This case is being investigated.
Vehicle Tampering 15-003376 100 Block Elm Street, SW Between March 28 at 2:30 p.m. and March 30 at 12:30 p.m. A resident reported her vehicle had been entered and the contents of the center console had been rifled through.
She was unsure whether the vehicle was locked or unlocked, however there were no signs of forced entry.
Vehicle Tampering 15-003345 200 Block Glen Avenue, SW Between March 28 8:00 p.m. and March 29 at 2:56 p.m. A resident reported someone had entered her unlocked vehicle and removed the contents of the center console, taking an undetermined amount of cash.
Welfare Check 15-003315 600 Block John Marshall Drive, NE March 28 8:01 p.m. A concerned resident reported her neighbor’s dog had been running loose and when she attempted to return the dog to its owner there was no answer at the door. The resident was concerned the dog’s owner may have fallen ill.
Officer Tremont attempted to make contact with the owner, however all attempts were unsuccessful. The dog was transported to the Fairfax County Animal Shelter until the owner could be located. A relative later contacted Officer Tremont and informed him the resident had been admitted to an area hospital for treatment.
Vehicle Tampering 15-003375 100 Block Elm Street, SW Between March 28 at 9:00 p.m. and March 29 at 10:00 a.m. A resident reported her unlocked vehicle had been entered and the contents of the glove box had been rifled through. The resident was unsure if anything was taken from the vehicle.
Grand Larceny 15-003339 500 Block Brentwood Court, NW Between March 28 at 10:00 p.m. and March 29 at 10:00 p.m. A resident reported that she and her husband’s unlocked vehicles had been entered and several items had been taken.
This case is being investigated.
Narcotics Violation 15-003319 200 Block Maple Avenue, East March 28 10:01 p.m. Officer Herrera was on patrol when he observed a vehicle with several mechanical defects. As a result of those defects he conducted a traffic stop. Upon his interaction with the driver and his passenger, both juveniles, he detected the distinct odor of marijuana.
After further interaction with the driver and passenger he located a measurable amount of marijuana. Both juveniles were transported to the Vienna Police Station where Officer Herrera contacted their parents who responded to the station and took their children home.
This case is being investigated.
Suspicious Event 15-003348 100 Block Niblick Drive, SE March 29 6:30 p.m. A resident reported that a man and woman had been outside her residence and were involved in a physical altercation. The resident’s husband approached the two individuals who immediately returned to their vehicle and left the area prior to the arrival of the police.
Officer Digan searched the area but was unable to locate the vehicle.
Animal Case – Quarantine 15-003371 500 Block Woodland Court, NW March 30 7:30 a.m. A resident reported she was bitten by a dog while walking to work, on the pedestrian path between Woodland Court and Malcom Road, NW. The resident stated she did not get the owners information.
The dog was described as a small gray, long haired dog being walked by a tall fit looking middle aged man.
ACO Barker is investigating this case to determine the owner of the dog.
Solicitors 15-003374 300 Block Center Street, North March 30 2:08 p.m. A resident reported two solicitors had been at her home soliciting for “Power Home Remodeling Group”. The resident stated when she told the solicitors to leave they began to curse and displayed obscene gestures at her.
Officer Reedy responded and located the solicitors who admitted to cursing at the resident but stated that was only after she slammed the door on them.
Officer Reedy informed the solicitors of the need to cease all solicitations until the proper Town of Vienna Solicitor Permits were obtained.
911 Hang-Up 15-003377 200 Block Locust Street, SE March 30 3:16 p.m. Officer Reedy responded to the location after receiving a report that someone had called 911 then hung up the phone. Upon arriving he was met with the residents. Officer Reedy was required to use the assistance of a language translation service in order to determine the nature of the 911 call. The call was the result of a cultural disagreement between the residents and not an issue for the police.
Vehicle Tampering 15-003391 200 Block Audreys Court, SE Between March 30 at 8:00 p.m. and March 31 at 6:00 a.m. A resident reported someone may have taken gasoline from her vehicle. She stated she discovered the gas cap was hanging from the plastic attachment but the gas cap door was shut.
She stated she was unsure if any gas had been taken or if her husband may have left the cap off.
Found Property 15-003422 Marshall Road at Ware Street, SW March 31 11:00 a.m. A resident responded to the Vienna Police Station to turn in a Virginia vehicle license plate he found in the area.
The license plate will be held at the police station until the owner can be located.
Fraud 15-003441 500 Block Stephen Circle, SW April 01 1:42 p.m. A resident reported she received a telephone call from an individual informing her that her grandson had been involved in an accident in New York and had been arrested. The resident was instructed to send an undetermined amount of money through Money Gram to the caller in order to bail her grandson out of jail.
The resident contacted her daughter who instructed her to contact the police department. MPO Vazquez informed the resident the caller was attempting to scam her out of the money.
Note to citizens: If someone telephones you and requests that you wire money or requests personal or banking information, verify the authenticity of the caller before taking any action.
Petit Larceny 15-003453 1100 Block Drake Street, SW April 01 6:30 p.m. A resident reported someone had taken his Trek bicycle which he had left unattended in the driveway.
Domestic Dispute 15-003454 Block Plum Street, SW April 01 8:12 p.m. A resident reported he had been locked out of his home and his wife would not let him in to use the restroom.
Officer Herrera responded and was able to persuade the wife to allow her husband to use the restroom. After using the restroom her husband returned to his living quarters in the back yard.
Peeping Tom 15-003460 100 Block Patrick Street, SE April 02 6:55 a.m. A resident reported she had seen a Hispanic male in his 20’s, wearing a dark blue jacket and a dark hat standing outside her bedroom window while she was changing. She stated he was holding something up to the window that she believed may have been a camera.
The resident stated the man left the area when she ran out of the room to call the police. Officer Slebonick responded and searched the area but was unsuccessful in locating the man.
Civil Dispute 15-003465 400 Block Maple Avenue, West April 02 10:55 a.m. A business owner reported his landlord had changed the locks to his business and was prohibited from entering and operating his business.
Officer Slebonick responded and spoke with the landlord who informed him the business owner was several months behind on his rent and his lease had expired.
Both parties were informed this was a civil matter and not a police matter. They agreed and stated they would seek legal counsel to resolve the matter.
Suspicious Event 15-003472 1000 Block Westbriar Drive, NE April 02 2:36 p.m. A resident reported she had received a telephone message from an individual claiming to be with the Internal Revenue Service. The caller stated the resident needed to return his telephone call.
The resident attempted to return the call, however the number had been disconnected.
MPO Vazquez informed the resident the caller was attempting to scam her into sending money.
Police Service 15-003477 900 Block Farley Court, SE April 02 7:08 p.m. A resident responded to the Vienna Police Station to turn in unused/unwanted ammunition for destruction.
