VIENNA, VA — The addition of an economic development director and team has made a difference in the Town of Vienna, as it earned several awards for its initiatives.

The town received two Excellence in Economic Development Awards from the International Economic Development Council. The awards included a gold award for 2023 Vienna Restaurant Week and bronze award for the Explore Vienna VA website. The organization recognizes communities that show innovation and excellence in economic development.

"Vienna’s Economic Development Division has raised the bar for excellence in economic development with its new website for Town businesses and the 2023 Vienna Restaurant Week program," said Nathan Ohle, the International Economic Development Council's president and CEO. "These awards are a great example of how economic development can help transform a community for the better."

The economic development initiatives come under the direction of Natalie Monkou, Vienna's first-ever economic development director, who was introduced in 2019.

"I am incredibly proud of our team’s achievements this year,” said Monkou. "These awards inspire us to keep pushing boundaries to further serve Vienna businesses and enhance the quality of life for all Vienna residents."
