Lightning Damages Fiber Optic Cables In Vienna
One direction of Center Street South is closed during repairs.

UPDATE: Lawyers Road has reopened.
VIENNA, VA—Road closures are in effect Friday morning as officials make repairs and clear debris.
In the Town of Vienna, the northbound lane of Center Street South is closed due to fiber optic repairs. Town officials say lightening damaged the fiber optic cables. The closure will happen at least through midday. A flagger is on site directing traffic.

The damages have cut off internet access for Town of Vienna employees. As employees may have limited access to email at this time, the Town recommends residents to contact the employees by phone.
In the Vienna area of Fairfax County, Lawyers Road is closed in both directions between Hunter Mill Road and Lydia Place. The Virginia Department of Transportation is clearing debris from the road. Drivers should seek alternate routes.
