Vienna Schools Among Best High Schools In Virginia: Niche 2023 Ranking
New 2023 rankings from Niche include public and private schools in Vienna among Virginia's best high schools.

VIENNA, VA — Vienna schools were named among the best high schools in Virginia, according to the Niche Best Schools rankings for 2023 announced Tuesday.
In the annual rankings, Niche evaluates 92,743 public schools, 30,112 private schools, and 11,820 school districts in the U.S., seeking to provide families with information on schools in their area. According to Niche, school rankings aren't solely based on academic achievement. The rankings incorporate reviews provided by current and former students and families. Schools are also graded in areas like extracurricular activities, resources, and facilities, teachers, school administration, diversity and more using data from sources like the U.S. Department of Education.
In the public high school category, Oakton High School was ranked as the sixth best in Virginia. Niche gave the school A+ grades in the categories of academics and college prep, while A grades were assigned for teachers, sports and diversity. The school earned B+ for clubs and activities and administration, B- for resources and facilities, and C for food.

James Madison High School, which serves students within the Town of Vienna, was ranked 10th. The school received A+ grades in academics, college prep and sports, A grades for teachers, clubs and activities, and A- for diversity and administration. The B grade was assigned for resources and facilities, and a C+ grade was given for food.
George C. Marshall High School, which serves some of the Vienna area, was ranked 29th. A grades were given to the school for academics, sports and diversity while A- grades were assigned for clubs and activities and college prep. B+ grades were given for teachers, resources and facilities, and administration, while C+ was given for food.

Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology, also part of Fairfax County Public Schools, was ranked first in the state and seventh in the U.S.
In the private high schools category, Flint Hill School in Oakton was ranked sixth in Virginia. It received an A+ in academics and college prep, A for diversity, A- for teachers and sports, and B+ for clubs and activities.
Oakcrest School in Vienna was ranked the 20th best private high school in Virginia. The school got an A+ for academics and college prep, A for clubs and activities, A- for teachers and B for sports.
The number one spot in the private high school category in Virginia went to BASIS Independent McLean, which serves PreK to 12th grade as part of the BASIS Curriculum Schools network.
