Vienna Schools Among Top In Virginia On 2022 Niche List

VIENNA, VA — Niche, a platform providing information on schools and colleges released its 2022 best school district and school rankings on Monday. The eighth annual ranking looks at 94,491 public schools, 2,489 private schools, and 11,846 school districts nationwide.

Vienna schools made an appearance on several lists. James Madison High School is named the ninth-best public high school in Virginia, third best for public high school teachers in Virginia, and seventh-best college prep public high school. It's also ranked 16th for high school athletics in Virginia and 19th for STEM in Virginia.

Oakton High School is ranked seventh among Virginia public high schools, fourth for best public high school teachers in Virginia, fifth for best college prep high schools in Virginia, and 13th for STEM in Virginia.

George C. Marshall High School, which serves some Vienna area students, is ranked the 30th best public high school in Virginia and 29th for STEM in Virginia. It ranks 60th for diversity among Virginia public high schools, 65th among college prep high schools in Virginia and 70th for best public high school teachers in Virginia.

Fairfax County Public Schools as a whole is the sixth-best school district in Virginia and sixth best for athletics. It's also the 11th best for diversity in Virginia, 17th best to teach in Virginia, 24th for best teachers in Virginia, and 33rd for safest school districts in Virginia.

Among private schools, the best private high schools in Virginia include Flint Hill School at ninth, Oakcrest School at 16th, Veritas Collegiate Academy at 25th, and Dominion Christian School at 53rd.

Niche school rankings differ from traditional rankings by not relying solely on factors like test scores and academic performance. The rankings incorporate ratings from current students, alumni, and parents as well as quantitative data from the U.S. Department of Education and other sources to evaluate teachers, resources, facilities and more. Rankings are available on the city, DC metro region, state and national level.
