Vienna Turkey Trot Returns To Benefit Madison Band, Volunteer Fire Department

VIENNA, VA — As Thanksgiving week begins, runners and walkers will get a workout by running the Vienna Turkey Trot to benefit the James Madison High School Band and Vienna Volunteer Fire Department. The event will take place Sunday, Nov. 21.

The Vienna Turkey Trot will include a 5K, 10K and Kids Fun Run starting at the Vienna Volunteer Fire Department, 400 Center Street South. The Kids Fun Run will happen at 8 a.m. before the 5K and 10K begin at 8:30 a.m.

The 5K and 10K course both start near the Volunteer Fire Department at 400 Center Street South. Runners and walkers will head down Center Street South, turn onto Moore Street, turn onto Desale Street, continue past Vienna Woods Swim & Tennis Club, turn onto Patrick Street, and head north on Cottage Street back to the Volunteer Fire Department. 10K runners and walkers will do another loop, while the 5K will end after that first loop.

The Kids Fun Run will start on Cherry Street SE and loop around Center Street South, Oak Street SW, Cottage Street SW and Elm Street SW.

After the races, stick around for music, prizes, refreshments and the Finish Line Festival. Awards will be given for the three male and female winners in different age groups: 0-14, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70-79, and 80 and older. Overall winners in the male, female, general and masters categories will win a $30 gift card from Wegmans.

Race registration will close at 8 a.m. on race day. The cost to participate is $45 until race day for the 5K, $50 until race day for the 10K, and $20 for the Kids Fun Run. All proceeds go toward the James Madison High School Band and Vienna Volunteer Fire Department. Even if you aren't participating in the race, donations are encouraged for the James Madison High School Band.

Free street parking will be available near the event.
