Vienna Youth Players to Present 'Hair'
The Vienna Youth Players' production of 'Hair' will premiere on August 4 and run through August 12.
From the Town of Vienna: Vienna Youth Players (VYP) is putting its own spin on what youthful frustration with society looks and sounds like in its production of the 1968 Broadway musical Hair, which features classics like “Aquarius” and “Let the Sunshine In.”
“Youth lacking a voice in society is not a unique theme to this generation,” says Vienna Youth Players director Barbara “Babs” Dyer. “It was big during the political unrest of the 1960s, and it’s still big today.”
Hair performances begin at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, August 4 and 5 and 11 and 12, at Vienna Baptist Church, 541 Marshall Road SW. Tickets are $14 and may be purchased online here or in person at the parks and recreation office at 262M Cedar Lane. If tickets are still available, they also may be purchased at the door.

Audiences can expect contemporary choreography that reflects youthful frustration and complements characters’ motivations.
“It’s the kind of show that leaves a mark,” says Dyer. “It’s been an honor to work with youth of different days and to have them create something in hope that sunshine comes back.”
