ViVa! Vienna! Returns With Food, Rides, More On Memorial Day Weekend

VIENNA, VA — ViVa! Vienna!, the largest event of the year for Vienna, will return in its full format Memorial Day weekend with a new addition.

The festival will be held Saturday, May 28 through Monday, May 30 in the area of Church Street between Lawyers Road and Mill Street along with surrounding side streets. ViVa! Vienna! hosted by the Rotary Club of Vienna, which uses all proceeds to benefit local organizations. The event is free to attend with ride tickets, food, drinks and more available for purchase.

"This year we are excited to be back to a regular ViVa! Vienna! with the normal rides/games from Cole Amusements, a wealth of quality entertainment on the Town Green and over 200 vendors on Church Street for the festival," said ViVA Vienna chair AJ Oskuie in a statement to Patch. "We are also excited to be introducing Backstage BrewFest at the Vienna Firehouse this year."

The new Backstage BrewFest will be held at the Vienna fire station (400 Center St S) from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. The event will feature live entertainment, beer from Caboose Brewing Company, fine wines from Vienna Vintner and food vendors. Drink tickets and souvenir mugs are available to purchase in advance.

ViVa Vienna will feature approximately 24 rides ranging from young children rides to adult thrills. While ride tickets will be sold on site, unlimited ride wristbands can be purchased in advance. The three-day unlimited rides wristband can be purchased for $100 and the one-day wristband for $40 when purchased before May 28.

Additional entertainment and vendors will be set up along the streets, and performance stages will be located at the Town Green. See a full map of the festival here.

Saturday festival hours will be 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. for rides and entertainment. Festival and food vendors will join the mix Sunday, opening from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Rides and entertainment will be open from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday. On Monday, vendors, entertainment and rides will open at 10 a.m. through 6 p.m. A Memorial Day tribute is planned on the main stage at the Town Green at 1 p.m. Monday.

Shuttle service is typically provided from the Vienna Metro Station and Madison High School to the festival. To see other parking locations near the festival, see the ViVa! Vienna! parking and shuttle webpage.

Drivers should expect road closures in the festival area over Memorial Day weekend. Roads will be reopened by 9 p.m. Monday.

While the 2020 festival was canceled, the 2021 event operated with some COVID-19 pandemic limitations.

"Last year was quite difficult to navigate from an outdoor events perspective," said Oskuie. "Continual directive changes made the event a moving target, but we were able to provide a great event and donate over $140,000 to over 65 local organizations."

This year's event will provide 100 percent of proceeds to more than 70 local organizations. Oskuie said the Rotary Club of Vienna appreciates the community support for the event.
