VIENNA, VA — Memorial Day weekend marks the unofficial start of the summer season, and there's no better way to celebrate in Vienna than the annual ViVa! Vienna! festival.

The festival hosted by the Rotary Club of Vienna runs Saturday, May 27 to Monday, May 29 around Church Street, Center Street, Dominion Road NE and Mill Street NE. Attendees can enjoy carnival rides, live music, vendors and a food court.

The event is free to attend with ride tickets, food, drinks and more available for purchase. Proceeds from the festival go to over 70 local organizations through the Rotary Club of Vienna.

Saturday and Sunday's festival hours will be 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Rides, the food court and live entertainment will be held on Saturday. The only change on Sunday will be the addition of vendors until 6 p.m. The food court will run until 8 p.m., while rides and entertainment continue until 10 p.m.

The 24 rides range from children's rides to adult thrill rides from Cole Amusement Company. Individual tickets or unlimited ride wristbands will be available for purchase.

Live entertainment will be held on the Town Green and Lawyers Road stages. See a full schedule here.

Food includes a variety of carnival foods like funnel cakes, candy apples, hamburgers and more along with international cuisines. Vendors include retail, political parties and candidates, professional groups and community organizations.

One change this year relates to the BrewFest beer garden. This beer garden will be held from 12 p.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

"The inaugural BrewFest did so well last year that it is being moved to Mill Street right next to the Town Green," said Rotary Club member Cristin Etheredge in an email to Patch.

Drinks will cost $7 each or $20 for three. ID is required, and all alcoholic beverages must remain in the restricted BrewFest area.

Presales for ride wristbands, beer garden tickets and raffle could start as soon as next week.

Drivers should expect road closures in the festival area over Memorial Day weekend. While rides and food are concentrated around Dominion Road NE and Mill Road NE, the addition of vendors Sunday and Monday will close Church Street from Lawyers Road NW to Mill Street NE.

Various parking options and a shuttle will return for attendees. Shuttle buses will pick up attendees at the Vienna/Fairfax Metro station and James Madison High School back parking lot. Handicap parking will be available in front of retail at 221 Mill St. NE to 227 Mill St. NE.
