Volunteers Sought For Vienna Clean-Up Day

Looking for some community service opportunities? The Town of Vienna needs volunteers for the next cleanup.

The Town of Vienna's next Clean-Up Day will happen on the morning of Saturday, Nov. 3. Volunteers are needed to help clean the Town Green and areas along creeks.

Scouts, church and service groups, schools and Town staff typically participate in the cleanup. This involves picking up trash, removing invasive plants and generally sprucing up designated areas.

"Community service is alive and well in Vienna," says John King, the Town’s parks maintenance superintendent. "It brings a closeness – volunteers get to know our staff, and we get to know them. There’s a lot of bonding when you’re expending elbow grease together."

Anyone interested in volunteering for the Nov. 3 Town Clean-Up Day, should contact King at john.king@viennava.gov. Volunteers are recommended to wear pants and long sleeves regardless of the weather and to bring along trash pickers if they have them. The Town will supply gloves, trash bags and other equipment.

Volunteers will meet at 9 a.m. at the Town Green. Clean-Up Day, held twice a year, is a rain or shine event.
