VYS Phoenix '99 Head to NPL Finals
VYS Phoenix '99 U16 Girls Soccer Team Departs for National Premier League Finals in Colorado
After a successful fundraiser and sendoff at the Vienna Chipotle Monday evening, the Phoenix '99 depart today for Aurora, Colorado, the site of the National Premier League Finals. Phoenix '99 is the first Vienna Youth Soccer team to compete in the NPL finals. The girls went undefeated throughout the Virginia Premier League season, earning the right to represent the Virginia.
The team opens up group play Thursday, July 14, against ISC Gunners from Washington state. The ISC Gunners are the winners of the Northwest Champions League. The match kicks off at 11:00 AM at the Aurora Sports Park, host of the NPL Finals.
Group play continues Friday and Saturday, with Phoenix '99 facing teams from New Jersey and New Mexico. Semifinals are set for Sunday, July 17, with finals on Monday. All games can be followed on Twitter @Vienna_Patriots.

Phoenix '00, the reigning U16 Girls State Cup Champions, recently returned from the US Youth Soccer Region I Championships. Despite going unbeaten (1-0-2) in group play, the team was not able to advance to the semifinals. The win was against the Pennsylvania East State Cup champion (and previous Region I champion), while the two ties were against the Maryland and Massachusetts State Cup hampions.
