VYS Phoenix '99 Head to Region I Championships

Virginia State Cup Champion VYS Phoenix '99 U16 Girls Compete in US Youth Soccer Region I Championships

The Vienna Youth Soccer Phoenix '99 girls soccer team will represent Virginia and Vienna in the US Youth Soccer Region I Championships starting Friday, July 1, in Barboursville, WV.  Phoenix '99 won the U16 age group of the Virginia State Cup last fall, earning the right to represent Virginia in the Region I Championships.  Region I consists of teams from the northeast United States, from Virginia/West Virginia through Maine. 

The Phoenix '99 is the first girls soccer team from Vienna to win the State Cup in 30 years.  They previously competed in the Region I Championships in 2012, as a U12 team, when they were the State Cup finalist and were chosen as a wildcard for the Championships. They went on to be the Region I finalist.
