Walk On The Hill Returns To Vienna's Windover Heights In 2024

Walk on the Hill, a tradition since 1974, showcases the yards and gardens of historic Windover Heights in Vienna.

VIENNA, VA — The natural beauty of Vienna's Windover Heights neighborhood will be showcased in the returning Walk on the Hill in April.

The event will be held Sunday, April 28 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Windover Avenue between Lewis Street and Lawyers Road. Walk on the Hill caps off a busy weekend that includes the Taste of Vienna on Saturday, April 27.

Walk on the Hill has been a tradition since 1974, opening yards and gardens in the historic district to visitors. Each property offers views of spring flowers and flowering trees, and visitors can enjoy live music, exhibits and refreshments. An estimated 50 yards and gardens could participate.

Special exhibits this year include a flower show presented by District III of the National Capital Area Garden Clubs at Green Hedges School, "If This House Could Talk…" signs with historic information about some homes, and historic exhibit and tours at Salsbury Spring Park.

The free event is presented by the Town of Vienna, Historic Vienna, Inc., Ayr Hill Garden Club and the Windover Heights Historic District. A walking map with participating properties will be available a week before the event at www.viennava.gov/walkonthehill. The event will be rain or shine.
