Weather Alert Issued for Fairfax County

The National Weather Service warns to expect heavy rain from the remnants Tropical Storm Bill.

Fairfax County is under a hazardous weather outlook that includes much of northern Virginia as well as the Maryland portion of the Chesapeake Bay, according to the National Weather Service.

From the National Weather Service report:

Scattered thunderstorms are possible Thursday afternoon and evening. A few thunderstorms may become severe with locally damaging wind gusts and large hail being the primary threat.

Heavy rain may continue into late Saturday and Sunday as the remnants of Tropical Storm Bill pass through the mid-Atlantic. Flash floods are possible during this time, the Weather Service says.

Thursday: A chance of showers and thunderstorms after noon. Partly sunny, with a high near 87. West wind around 7 mph. Chance of precipitation is 50%.

Thursday night: A chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after midnight. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 71. Southwest wind 3 to 7 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

Friday: A slight chance of showers and thunderstorms after noon. Partly sunny, with a high near 88. Northwest wind 8 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 22 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Friday night: Isolated showers and thunderstorms before midnight. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 68. Northeast wind 6 to 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Saturday: Isolated showers, then scattered showers and thunderstorms after noon. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 83. Northeast wind around 6 mph becoming southeast in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

Saturday night: Scattered showers and thunderstorms, then showers likely after midnight. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 72. Chance of precipitation is 60%.

Sunday: A chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 88. Chance of precipitation is 50%.

Sunday night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 74.
