Vienna Crash: Driver Swerves And Hits Traffic Signal Box

The crash temporarily closed one direction of Maple Avenue and left the traffic signal without power.

A crash on Maple Avenue in Vienna Thursday afternoon closed one direction of Maple Avenue traffic signal out.

The crash happened around 1:20 p.m. between Follin Lane and East Street. Police say the driver swerved off the roade to avoid traffic. The car struck the traffic signal utility box, a sign, the traffic signal pole and landscaping on private property.

As a result, the traffic light went out Maple Avenue and Follin Lane. The signal will be restored between Thursday night and Friday morning. Drivers should follow police direction and treat dark signals as four-way stops.

Follin Lane was also shut down between Echols Street and Maple Avenue. The westbound direction of Maple Avenue was temporarily closed but completely reopened hours later.

There were no injuries reported, and no other vehicles appeared to be involved.
