What’s Open, Closed On MLK Jr. Day 2022 In Vienna

VIENNA, VA — On Monday, residents and businesses in Vienna will take a moment to honor the life and legacy of civil rights icon Martin Luther King Jr.

Martin Luther King Jr. Day on Monday, Jan. 17 is a federally-observed day of service. Volunteer Fairfax will hold a day of service, promoting volunteer opportunities residents can participate in remotely. Other volunteer options can be found at www.volunteerfairfax.org. You can also mark the holiday with a visit to the Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial in DC.

As a federal holiday, MLK Day could also affect the hours of government offices, libraries, public transportation, garbage pickup and other services in Vienna.

Before you head out, here’s a roundup of what’s open and what’s closed on Martin Luther King Jr. Day in Vienna:

Town of Vienna government offices: Town government offices are closed on Jan. 17.

Fairfax County government offices: County government offices are closed on Jan. 17.

Courts: The Fairfax County General District Court, Circuit Court, and Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Court will be closed on Jan. 17.

Community centers: The Vienna Community Center will be open 10 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. on Jan. 17. Fairfax County Neighborhood and Community Services community centers will be closed Jan. 15 to 17. Fastran will not operate on Jan. 17.

Fairfax Connector: On Jan. 17, Fairfax Connector will run holiday weekday service. All routes will have regular weekday service except routes 231, 232, 335, 351, 393, 394, 395, 396, 432, 461, 494, 495, 556, 585, 599, 624, 634, 697, 698, 699, 715, 722, 724 834, 835 and 985, which will not operate. Metro: Metrorail and Metrobus typically run on a Saturday schedule on Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Due to the continued impacts of the derailment and 7000-series investigation, Metrorail service continues to be reduced. Visit www.wmata.com/schedules/timetables for more information.

Park authority: Check back for holiday hours for Martin Luther King Jr. Day 2022 from the park authority.

Post offices: Closed on Jan. 17.

Trash and recycling: Regular collection will happen in the Town of Vienna. There is no schedule change for county collection customers on Jan. 17. Private collection customers should check schedules with their hauler.

Trash and recycling centers: The I-66 Transfer Station (4618 West Ox Road) and the I-95 Landfill Complex (9850 Furnace Road) are open regular hours on Jan. 17.

Virginia DMV: All DMV customer service centers will be closed Jan. 17.
