VIENNA, VA — As residents get ready to celebrate the Fourth of July with fireworks, barbecues and travel, various closures and schedule changes are planned for services around Vienna.

The Independence Day holiday falls on Monday, July 4, which means some services will be closed for a three-day weekend. Town of Vienna and Fairfax County government offices will be closed on July 4, and other services will have schedule changes.

Vienna's Independence Day fireworks will be held at Yeonas Park on Friday, July 1 rather than July 4. Residents can enjoy food, drinks, live music and other entertainment starting at 7:30 p.m. before fireworks around 9:30 p.m. See other nearby fireworks events planned during the holiday.

Town of Vienna government offices: Closed on Monday, July 4

Fairfax County government offices: Closed on Monday, July 4

Fairfax County Public Schools: Students are on summer break, but July 4 is a holiday for all FCPS staff.

Community centers: Vienna Community Center is open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on July 4. Fairfax County Neighborhood and Community Services community centers are closed July 2 through July 4. Fasttran will not operate on July 4.

Courts: The Fairfax County Circuit Court, General District Court and Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Court will be closed July 4.

Department of Motor Vehicles: All DMV customer service centers in Northern Virginia will be closed July 4.

Fairfax Connector: Fairfax Connector will have Saturday service on July 4.

Libraries: On July 4, Patrick Henry Library and all Fairfax County Public Library locations will be closed.

Metro: Metro will run on a Sunday holiday schedule on July 4. Metro has closed five Orange Line stations between Stadium-Armory and New Carrollton through Labor Day. Additional closures are planned during the summer on the Blue Line between Stadium-Armory and Benning Road. Check back for detailed weekend Metrorail information here.

Park authority: Colvin Run Mill and Sully Historic Site are closed, the nature centers at E.C. Lawrence, Hidden Oaks, Hidden Pond and Huntley Meadows are closed. The Riverbend Park visitor center will be open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on July 4, and Frying Pan Farm Park is open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. but the visitor center is closed and indoor arena from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Green Spring Gardens Horticultural House and Historic House are closed on July 4.

Post offices: Closed on July 4.

Recreation centers: All rec centers are open regular hours to 4 p.m. on July 4, except George Washington Rec Center, which is closed.

Trash and recycling: For county collection customers, regular trash and recycling collection will happen on July 4. If you have private collection, contact your hauler.
