What's Open, Closed For Thanksgiving 2022 In Vienna

Here are the Thanksgiving and Black Friday schedule changes to expect around Vienna, plus events around the holiday.

VIENNA, VA — Various closings and schedule changes will be in place for the Thanksgiving holiday in Vienna.

Town and county government, schools and other services will be closed on Thanksgiving, Thursday, Nov. 24 as well as Black Friday, Nov. 25. Services like transit will be open with modified schedules.

In between your Thanksgiving feast, mark your calendars for other events in the coming days. The Northern Virginia Handcrafters Guild will host its Art & Craft Show at the Vienna Community Center from Nov. 25 to 27. The event features 40 to 60 artists and crafters. Hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday.

For more unique gift ideas, stop by the Town of Vienna Made Pop-Up Market on Nov. 26 and 27 at 136 Maple Avenue. This market includes local artisans selling their handmade products.

Meadowlark's Winter Walk of Lights will be open on Thanksgiving and other holidays through Jan. 8. This winter wonderland offers outdoor holiday light displays as well as hot drinks and s'mores.

On Monday, Nov. 28, head to historic Church Street for the Church Street Holiday Stroll from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. The event will include Santa arriving by fire engine, a tree lighting will be led by Mayor Linda Colbert, live holiday music by local performers and deals from Church street businesses. Visitors are also encouraged to stop by the Freeman Store and Museum, Little Library, Caboose, Train Station, Knights of Columbus (formerly First Baptist Church) and Vienna Presbyterian's Old Chapel.

Below are the openings and closures to know for the Thanksgiving holiday around Vienna:

Town of Vienna government offices: Closed on Nov. 24 and 25.

Fairfax County government offices: Closed on Nov. 24 and 25.

Fairfax County Public Schools: Closed Nov. 23 to 25.

Community centers: The Vienna Community Center will be closed on Nov. 24 and open on Nov. 25 from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m, which includes open gym hours. Fairfax County's Neighborhood and Community Services community centers will be closed Nov. 24 and 25 and reopen Monday, Nov. 28.

Courts: Fairfax County courts close at noon on Nov. 23 and are closed Nov. 24 and 25.

Department of Motor Vehicles: All DMV customer service centers are typically closed on Thanksgiving.

Fairfax Connector: Fairfax Connector will have Sunday service on Nov. 24 and holiday weekday service on Nov. 25. For more information, visit www.fairfaxcounty.gov/connector.

Libraries: Patrick Henry Library and all Fairfax County Public Library locations will be closed on Nov. 24 and 25.

Metro: Metrorail will run on a Sunday holiday schedule on Nov. 24 from 7 a.m. to midnight. On Nov. 25, Metrorail will run on a regular weekday schedule from 5 a.m. to 1 a.m. Metrobus will be on a Sunday schedule on Nov. 24.

Post offices: Closed on Nov. 24.

Recreation centers: Fairfax County recreation centers are closed on Nov. 24 and open on Nov. 25.

Trash and recycling: Town of Vienna collections will not happen on Nov. 24. Collections resume on Nov. 25, except for brush, bulk, and yard waste collection. Fairfax County collection customers will have collection services on Nov. 24. Private collection customers should check with their hauler for any changes.

Trash and recycling centers: The Recycling and Disposal Centers at the I-66 Transfer Station (4618 West Ox Road) and the I-95 Landfill Complex (9850 Furnace Road) are closed on Nov. 24.
