What's Open, Closed For Thanksgiving 2023 In Vienna

VIENNA, VA — If you're planning any errands or outings in between your Thanksgiving feasts, be sure you know the openings and closings in Vienna.

Town of Vienna and Fairfax County government, schools and other services will be closed on Thanksgiving, Thursday, Nov. 23 as well as Black Friday, Nov. 24. Services like transit and trash collection will be open with modified schedules.

One returning Thanksgiving tradition is the Northern Virginia Handcrafters Guild's Art & Craft Show at the Vienna Community Center from Nov. 24 to 26. The event features more than 50 artists and crafters. Hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday. Another thing to do is Meadowlark's Winter Walk of Lights, which is open on Thanksgiving and other days through Jan. 7.

Below are the openings and closures to know for the Thanksgiving holiday in Vienna:

Town of Vienna government offices: Closed Nov. 23 and 24.

Fairfax County government offices: Closed Nov. 23 and 24.

Fairfax County Public Schools: Closed Wednesday, Nov. 22 through Friday, Nov. 24.

Vienna Community Center: Closed on Nov. 23 and open 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Nov. 24.

Courts: Fairfax County courts close at noon on Wednesday, Nov. 22 and will be closed Thursday, Nov. 23 and Friday, Nov. 24.

Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles: Closed Nov. 23 to 25.

Fairfax Connector: Fairfax Connector will operate Sunday Service on Thursday, Nov. 23. All Fairfax Connector stores, and the Customer Service Call Center will be closed on Thanksgiving. On Friday, Nov. 24, Fairfax Connector will operate Holiday Weekday Service. The Fairfax Connector stores, and the Customer Service Call Center will be open and operating regular service hours.

Libraries: All Fairfax County Public Library locations will be closed on Thursday, Nov. 23 and Friday, Nov. 24.

Metro: Metrorail will run on a Sunday holiday schedule from 7 a.m. to midnight on Nov. 23 and a Friday schedule from 5 a.m. to 1 a.m. on Nov. 24. Post offices: Closed on Nov. 23.

Recreation centers: Fairfax County recreation centers are closed on Thursday, Nov. 23 and open on Friday, Nov. 24.

Trash and recycling: For Town of Vienna customers, there will be no collection on Nov. 23 and regular collection on Nov. 23 but no brush, bulk or yard waste. Fairfax County collection customers will have collection services on Thursday, Nov. 23. Private collection customers should check with their hauler for any changes.

Trash and recycling centers: The Recycling and Disposal Centers at the I-66 Transfer Station and the I-95 Landfill Complex will both be closed on Thursday, Nov. 23.
