Wolf Trap's Children's Theatre-in-the-Woods Series to Return for Summer
The annual concert series promotes the performing arts to local youth through performances from some reputable artists.

The Wolf Trap Foundation for the Performing Arts is bringing back its Children’s Theatre-in-the-Woods program for the summer, beginning with a pair of concerts by two-time Grammy nominees The Pop Ups on Tuesday, June 23 and Wednesday, June 24.
The Children’s Theatre-in-the-Woods program aims “to entertain and educate young minds by engaging them in diverse performing arts experiences,” according to a Wolf Trap news release promoting the summer series.
The program has held its annual concert series for more than 40 years dating back to 1971.

The Pop Ups will host the first of 32 performances as part of the series, which spans the summer months and concludes on Aug. 8. Among the other artists slated to host performances as part of the series are the National Symphony Orchestra, the band Recess Monkey and 12 artists who will make their Wolf Trap debuts, including Latin Grammy nominee Mister G, local band the grandsons, Jr. and musical group Mil’s Trills.
However, the Children’s Theatre-in-the-Woods spans more than just music; it encompasses the performing arts in a variety of expressions, including dance, puppetry and storytelling. Among the artists who will capture these niches of the performing arts are the Hudson Vagabond Puppets, the KanKouran West African Dance Company and the Natyabhoomi School of Indian Dance.
