Youth Invited To Join Tysons Interfaith Art And Essay Contest

TYSONS, VA — For the second year, Tysons Interfaith will host an art and essay contest, giving youth a chance to win cash prizes.

Tysons Interfaith, a group of 19 faith communities in the greater Tysons area, will accept art and essay entries related to the theme. Entries should be based on one of these topics: "How My Heritage Has Impacted My Life," "My Family’s Journey to/in America," or "Welcoming People Who Are Different From Me."

The contest is open to youth 18 and under. First, second and third cash prizes will be offered in both the essay and art categories for youth 12 and under and teens 13 to 18. Prizes are $100, $50 and $25 for youth and $200, $100 and $50 for teens.

Essay submissions should be one page with 300 words or less. Art submissions should be scanned to be submitted electronically and be limited to one, 8 and 1/2 x 11 inch page.

Entries will be accepted through midnight Oct. 17. Winners will be announced Nov. 1.
