• Probationer leaves assigned work site in Augusta County (whsv.com) — Local authorities are looking for a probationer who walked away from his assigned work at the Staunton–Augusta–Waynesboro Animal Shelter on Friday evening. The Augusta County Sheriff's Office says he is not considered violent but is wanted for a probation violation, and they're asking anyone in the greater Waynesboro–Staunton–Augusta area with information to contact them immediately.

• Arrests Sept. 25-28 (themountainpress.com) — A 20-year-old Waynesboro resident, Evan Lee Williams, is listed among recent Sevier County Jail intake reports, charged on Sept. 25 with transporting alcohol while under 21 and released on $500 bond. The roundup details dozens of other individuals from Tennessee and several states, but only one named person from Waynesboro appears in the report.

• ASP Intercepts Nearly 60 Pounds of Illegal Marijuana in Back-to-back I-40 Stops (salinerivernews.com) — Two Waynesboro residents were arrested in Arkansas after state troopers say they found about 30 pounds of marijuana and cash in their vehicle during an I-40 traffic stop. The pair, along with a third driver in a separate stop, now face serious drug charges, linking a major interstate marijuana seizure back to Waynesboro. No trial details are available yet.
