• 200 tires? Friends of the Middle River wrests objects from the muck (augustafreepress.com) — Volunteers with Friends of the Middle River, including some who first connected with the group at Waynesboro's Riverfest, recently pulled more than 200 discarded tires from a 12‑mile stretch of the river in Augusta County. Their work highlights ongoing tire dumping problems, the environmental damage caused by abandoned rubber, and calls for stronger enforcement to protect local waterways residents paddle, fish, and enjoy.
