Polk Elementary Students Decorate Mayor's Office for the Holidays

Students from James K. Polk Elementary School decorated Alexandria Mayor William D. Euille’s office for the holidays today with homemade ornaments and Rudolph the Red-Nose Reindeer representations created from Popsicle sticks.

Students from three classes in kindergarten and first grade decorated the conference room, administrative offices and Mayor’s office at City Hall. They had made handcrafted baubles filled with sparkly stars and glitter, brightly decorated Christmas trees and reindeer with red noses to represent Rudolph.

“It was such fun. We got to decorate most of the offices in City Hall. This was a great way to celebrate the season with our students,” said Polk Assistant Principal Penny Hairston.

The Mayor, who briefly spoke with students, will visit Polk in the next couple of weeks to share lunch and read a book at story time.

Polk students will be going to U.S. Sen. Mark Warner’s office in April to decorate it for spring.
