• UVA Wise scoreboard unveiled (timesnews.net) — UVA Wise’s new center-court scoreboard honors former basketball coach Joe Stallard, with a gift from his widow, Pat, funding the four-sided video display. Former players and family gathered Friday at the David J. Prior Convocation Center to celebrate his legacy and an upgrade that will bring videos and graphics to game days.
   

• TCCWR to host presentation on George Henry Thomas (timesnews.net) — Historian Brian Steel Wills, who spends time on his farm in Wise, will explore Union Gen. George Henry Thomas’s battlefield reputation at a free Kingsport talk Monday, Nov. 9. The public presentation begins at 7 p.m. in Room 219 of the Toy F. Reid Eastman Employee Center, 400 S. Wilcox Drive.
