WISE, Va. – The Health Wagon is excited to host the 5th Annual Davey’s Back-to-School Shuffle on Thursday, July 30, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Shelcy Mullins, Sr. Fairgrounds. Children must be present to participate in the event.
This free community celebration, held in memory of David Meade, The Health Wagon’s former Development Director, helps local families prepare for the upcoming school year while bringing the community together for an evening of fun, fellowship, and giving.
Families can enjoy pizza, a live DJ, games, face painting, cornhole, raffle prizes, bicycle giveaways, and the popular Davey’s Shuffle dance contest. Participants will also have the opportunity to shop at “Davey’s Store,” featuring new clothing and other items for children and families.
Thousands of donated items will be distributed, including backpacks filled with school supplies, clothing, shoes, hygiene products, baby essentials, household items, food boxes, toys, and more, while supplies last.
In addition to the giveaways, Medicaid/FAMIS eligibility screenings will be available through support from the Virginia Health Care Foundation, helping families connect with important healthcare coverage resources.
The event is made possible through the support of volunteers, local churches, businesses, and community sponsors who work together each year to make a positive impact on families throughout the region.
