Officers were called to the Woodbridge Station apartments on Mary's Way around 4 p.m. on May 15. A resident told police there was a bullet hole in his ceiling; the shot appeared to have come from his upstairs neighbor, police said. Officers also found a bullet fragment on the man's floor.
Officers went to the upstairs apartment to conduct a welfare check. When there was no response, the officers had the apartment's maintenance team open the door, according to the police report.
When they entered the apartment, officers found two unresponsive men suffering from gunshot wounds, authorities said. The officers also said there were additional signs of a shooting. Rescue personnel responded and confirmed the two men were dead.
In an initial report, the police department said there were no signs of forced entry at the apartment, and there was no additional property damage or injuries.
After their investigation, police said that Davis, Roberts, the 15-year-old suspect, and other acquaintances had gathered in the apartment. On Wednesday, detectives said they believe the fatal shootings were part of the suspects' initiation into the Bloods street gang.
