Couch Stops Burglar, Bus Assault: Recent Crimes In Woodbridge Area
See a roundup of crimes over the last few days, including an apartment burglar blocked by a couch and assault on an OmniRide bus.

WOODBRIDGE, VA — A resident used a couch to stop a home burglary in the Dale City area Sunday, according to Prince William County Police.
The burglary attempt happened around 7:37 a.m. Sunday at the Orchard Mills Apartments in the 3200 block of Blazer Loop in Dale City. Police believe the suspect was intoxicated and under the influence of narcotic drugs when he attempted to enter a neighbor's apartment. The suspect broke the glass patio door of the apartment, but the unit's resident stopped the suspect from entering by using a couch.
Police arrived and arrested the suspect. There were no injuries, and no property was stolen.

Lamont Fulton, 39, of Woodbridge, was charged with burglary, disorderly conduct, possession of a scheduled I or II narcotic, possession of drug paraphernalia and public intoxication. Fulton was taken to the hospital for an evaluation due to intoxication.

Aggravated Malicious Wounding
Police responded to an assault on an Omni bus around 4:19 p.m. Monday in the Lake Ridge area. According to police, a man struck the 26-year-old victim unprovoked multiple times on the bus. The bus stopped for police to respond. Police believe the suspect was intoxicated. The victim was treated at a hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.
Deybi Ismael Espinoza, 34, of Alexandria, was arrested and charged with aggravated malicious wounding and public intoxication. He is being held without bond with a pending court date.
Assault And Vehicle Theft Attempt
An officer was kicked in the chest during a vehicle theft investigation Monday in Dumfries. Police responded to Croppers Auto Care at 17662 Main Street around 10:32 a.m. after employees detained a suspect trying to steal a vehicle in the parking lot. The suspect provided a false identity to police, but his true identity determined he had active arrest warrants.
The suspect was taken to the hospital for an injury before interaction with police. While in custody, the suspect kicked the officer in the chest, police say.
Christopher David Liming, 35, of Dumfries, was arrested and charged with assault and battery on a law enforcement officer, attempted grand theft auto, and providing false ID to
police. A court date is pending.
Shooting
Police are investigating a shooting reported in the 4300 block of Dale Boulevard in Dale City on Saturday. Police were notified of a 20-year-old man being treated at a hospital for a lower body gunshot wound. The victim had non-life-threatening injuries. The victim would not provide information to police on what led to the gunshot wound. Police have not located a crime scene or evidence but do not believe the incident was random.
Strong-Arm Robbery
Police are seeking a wanted man in a robbery in Woodbridge Saturday. Officers responded around 6:48 p.m. Saturday to the 13500 block of Richmond Highway in Woodbridge. Police believe the victim, a 47-year-old woman, and an acquaintance had a verbal altercation that turned physical. The suspect broke the victim's cell phone and took her purse before fleeing, police said. The vehicle and victim's purse was found in front of the suspect's home, but the suspect was not found. Police have arrest warrants for Victor Manuel Dimas, 56, of Woodbridge on charges of robbery and destruction of property. He is described as a Hispanic man around 5 foot 7 and 180 pounds with black hair and brown eyes.
Carjacking/Strong-Arm Robbery
A suspect has been identified in a Woodbridge robbery and carjacking on Feb. 11. Police responded to the 14200 block of Smoketown Road in Woodbridge around 5:55 p.m. on Feb. 11 for a robbery. The investigation found the 18-year-old victim drove a group of men, including the suspect. At one point, the suspect and another man chased the victim to the median of Smoketown Road and tackled him. Police say the suspects struck the victim and took his phones, wallet and keys. A Good Samaritan intervened to break up the struggle.
The suspects took the victim's car and fled. Police found the vehicle unoccupied in the area of Westminister Lane. The victim reported minor injuries.
Police have identified one of the suspects as Ibrahim Barrie Jr., 18, of Woodbridge. He was arrested on Sunday after an unrelated call to police. Barrie is charged with carjacking, robbery and fleeing from law enforcement.
Police are working to identify other suspects. Barrie is being held without bond.
