Several residents were home at the time of the fire and safely evacuated the complex, the statement added. One occupant escaped the fire by jumping from a third-story window. That individual was transported to a local medical facility for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

In addition, one firefighter was taken to the facility for precautionary reasons, but was later released. The Red Cross was called to the scene to assist the 23 residents displaced by the blaze.

The fire, which was determined to be accidental, caused about $275,000 in damage, according to the county Fire Marshal’s Office. A county building official posted 11 apartment units as unsafe due to fire, smoke and water damage.
