Fire and rescue units were dispatched to a home on Montega Drive around 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 1. There was a report of a house fire with an occupant still inside, the department of fire and rescue said in a report. Firefighters made it to the scene four minutes after they were dispatched.
When units arrived on the scene, they saw heavy fire and smoke emitting from the single-family home. Based on the extent of the fire and the possibility of a trapped victim, the fire department requested a second alarm to bring more resources to the scene.

When firefighters entered the building, they found the occupant and worked to remove him from the burning building.
Once first responders removed the man from the building, they began to administer life-saving care, fire officials said. A helicopter arrived in the area and transported the man to a regional burn center. His injuries were considered life-threatening.
Only one person was inside the home when the fire broke out, authorities said. A building official declared that the home would be unsafe to occupy. As a result of the blaze, six adults and one child are without a home.
