Surveillance footage shows victim forcibly put into the trunk by suspects but new evidence shows episode may have been a prank of some sort.

WOODBRIDGE, VA โ€” Multiple witnesses reported seeing a man being forcibly tossed into the trunk of a car by two men Friday night after an odd scuffle in front of the Walmart at 14000 Worth Avenue, and store surveillance camera footage backs up the account, according to Prince William County Police.

But here's the thing: Police reported Monday the episode possibly could be some sort of prank or hoax.

The victim appears to be a black male, and the suspects appear to be either Hispanic or light-skinned blacks.

After putting the victim in the trunk, the suspects quickly drove a way in a dark four-door sedan, possibly a Toyota Camry.

However, police went back and looked at additional surveillance camera footage and showed all three individuals, included the alleged victim, re-entered the store about five minutes after the initial counter.

The victim doesn't appear to be in distress or make any attempt to get away from the two suspects, and they didn't leave the Walmart for another 40 minutes.

Police say the incident occurred shortly after 10 p.m., and that surveillance footage shows the car slowing riding alongside the victim, who appears to be talking to the suspects.

The car stops in front of the store, and witnesses say the victim and the suspects appeared to be possibly "play fighting," before the victim was grabbed by the suspects, tried to unsuccessfully wrangl free, after which he was put in the trunk.
