Woodbridge Shootings, Carjacking Linked To Man Grazed By Bullet On Thursday: Police

Authorities said that a pair of shootings near Woodbridge shopping centers this week were related to the same man who was later arrested.

WOODBRIDGE, VA — One man is connected to two shootings that were reported in Woodbridge this week, according to the Prince William County Police Department. Authorities claimed that David Clarke Tucker, Jr. was shot at as he committed a carjacking on Wednesday, and then was grazed by a bullet during a shooting on Smoketown Road on Thursday.

Tucker was arrested on Thursday after he received treatment for a gunshot wound at a local hospital, authorities said. Police have not located the individual who shot him.

An initial incident occurred on Wednesday afternoon near the intersection of Crossing Place and Prince William Parkway. Officers learned of a shooting and armed carjacking that occurred in the area.

The victim in the carjacking, a 25-year-old man, told police that he had arranged to meet an unknown person in the area to conduct a transaction. Police claimed that during the encounter, the other person, who was later identified as Tucker, pulled out a gun. The victim was also armed.

The victim fired at the suspect, police said. The suspect then entered the victim's car and fled the area. The victim initially fled the area on foot, but he was stopped by police after witnesses reported the shooting.

Authorities have not announced any charges for the victim. No injuries or property damage was reported in the initial shooting. The victim's vehicle was recovered later on Wednesday evening.

Another shooting was reported on Smoketown Road in Woodbridge just after 11 a.m. on Thursday, as detectives were searching for Tucker. Authorities determined that people in two vehicles, a white Mercedes SUV and a black Jeep Cherokee, exchanged gunfire in the parking lot of a shopping center.

Both vehicles fled the area before police arrived on the scene, according to the police report. The Mercedes SUV was located at a home on Silvan Glen Drive in Dumfries, police said. The SUV was reported as stolen from North Carolina earlier this month.

While authorities were on the scene, they learned of a man who was being treated at a local hospital with a gunshot wound. The man was later identified as Tucker. He was grazed by a bullet in Thursday's shooting, police said. No other injuries were reported.

The other vehicle and other person involved in Thursday's shooting were not located, police said.

Detectives claimed that Tucker was not cooperative as they attempted to learn more about the circumstances that led to Thursday's shooting. He was arrested and charged in connection with Wednesday's shooting and carjacking.

Tucker is charged with carjacking, possession of a firearm in commission of a felony, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. His court date is pending and his bond is listed as unavailable.
