Woodbridge Man Charged With Trying to Strangle Woman
Incident occurred when argument escalated, say Prince William County police.

Prince William County police arrested a Woodbridge man on Saturday night for allegedly choking a woman in her apartment.
Mario Dantoni Bass, 34, of 15761 Tassleford Lane, Apt. 403, in Woodbridge, was charged with strangulation, according to a police report. He’s being held without bond in the Prince William-Manassas regional jail, and his court date is pending.

At 8:53 p.m. Saturday, officers responded to an apartment in the 3300 block of Bronson Court in Woodbridge to investigate an assault.

The victim, a 26-year-old woman, told police that she and Bass, a known acquaintance, were involved in a verbal altercation that escalated, the police report said. Bass then pushed the woman onto a bed and began to choke her. He eventually let go after the victim screamed for help.
Bass left the residence before police arrived, the report said. Minor injuries were reported. Bass was located a short time later and arrested without incident.
