Woodbridge Shooting Injures 19-Year-Old Driver: Police

A man walking on Maryland Ave. in Woodbridge fired multiple rounds at a 19-year-old man driving a vehicle Thursday evening, police said.

WOODBRIDGE, VA — A man walking on Maryland Ave. in Woodbridge fired multiple rounds at a 19-year-old man driving a vehicle Thursday evening, injuring the victim and shattering the glass of his vehicle, according to the Prince William County Police Department.

The victim drove himself to a local hospital for treatment of his injuries. Nobody else in the area was injured.

At about 6:40 p.m. Thursday, police officers went to the 1600 block of Florida Ave., a block over from the shooting, to investigate the incident.

Back in March 2020, a 16-year-old was shot and killed in the same block of Woodbridge as he was trying to sell marijuana to another 16-year-old, according to the Prince William County Police Department. The police caught the other teenager —the alleged shooter — and charged him with murder and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.

Detectives with the police department’s Violent Crimes Bureau are investigating the latest incident to determine what led up to the shooting. The incident does not appear to be random, according to the police.
