Massive Everett Logjam Is Halfway Cleared
WSDOT crews are still working around the clock to remove a dense logjam around the US-2 trestle.

EVERETT, WA -- Transportation crews have successfully cleared about half the logs piled around the Highway 2 trestle after Tuesday's floodwaters brought heavy debris down the Ebey Slough. One lane has been closed since Tuesday afternoon, making room for a large crane and an excavator to remove some of the largest logs and branches from above.

By Thursday morning, WSDOT said crews had made considerable progress, but work would continue through at least one more evening commute. The Seattle Times reports the logjam stretches almost 100 yards with some of the logs over 40 feet long.
Crews are keeping a close eye on the bridge's piers, monitoring for any damage or erosion to the structure. WSDOT does not have an estimate for when the work will be complete.
