📰 News we're reading

• Millions in flood control grants coming to south King County (seattleweekly.com) — Auburn is set to receive $300,000 for the Auburn 400 Flood Mitigation Ponds and 15th Street SE culvert project, part of a larger $14.3 million countywide flood-control package. This work will clean and restore the Auburn 400 culvert system that carries Algona Creek flows to Mill Creek, helping reduce prolonged high water and flood risk for nearby Auburn neighborhoods and regional drainage.

• Washington weekly drug overdose tracker Sept. 7-11 (everettpost.com) — A recent King County Medical Examiner report includes a drug-related death at an Auburn business, underscoring how the overdose crisis is affecting this community as well as nearby cities. The weekly tracker lists multiple accidental fatalities across Seattle-area locations, highlighting the ongoing regional impact of fentanyl and other substances.

• Man sentenced for Auburn marijuana dispensary robbery (kentreporter.com) — A violent robbery spree that included an armed holdup of Lucid Cannabis in Auburn has ended with a 17-year federal prison sentence for the Seattle man who organized and armed juvenile accomplices. Auburn readers may recall the multi-city string of marijuana shop and bank robberies; investigators from Auburn Police and several regional agencies helped build the case that also left a Tacoma dispensary worker dead.
