Bellevue Man Helped Invent Floating Amazon Warehouse Concept
The patent for "airborne fulfillment centers" suspended in the air by blimps came to light this week.

BELLEVUE, WA - A local man was part of the team that recently received a patent for "airborne fulfillment centers," which Amazon might use someday to deliver packages from the sky.
The patent lays out a fantastical concept for warehouses suspended 45,000 feet in the sky by blimps. Drones would gather items from inside, then drop to Earth to deliver them. The drones would then return to the floating warehouse via larger shuttles.
The patent is credited to Scott Isaacs of Bellevue, Paul William Berg of Seattle, and Kelsey Lynn Blodgett of Seattle.

According to the patent, the floating fulfillment centers would hover over cities or sporting events. The warehouse could float over CenturyLink and deliver, say, a Seahawks jersey to someone at the game.
It's unclear whether Amazon will actually build these floating fulfillment centers, but they are working on drone deliveries. The company completed its first real-world drone delivery in England earlier in December.
