Video: Amazon Completes First Drone Delivery - But Not In Seattle
CEO Jeff Bezos announced the company's first drone delivery Wednesday on Twitter.

SEATTLE, WA - An Amazon customer in the United Kingdom was the first customer ever to receive a drone delivery, a fantastical idea first proposed by CEO Jeff Bezos several years ago during a CBS 60 Minutes interview.
The drone flew two miles from a warehouse near Cambridgeshire, England, and delivered popcorn and an Amazon Fire device to a customer named Richard B. Amazon has two more drone deliveries planned for customers near Cambridge, England. The company is calling the service Prime Air. Bezos announced the delivery on Twitter.

But why didn't Amazon make its first delivery in hometown Seattle? According to reports, authorities in the UK have been more lax about how drones can fly, allowing the company to test - and now complete - drone flights without human controllers. The drone delivered goods to Richard B. via GPS.
