1. Bellingham kayaking program is helping women build skills, confidence, community on the water (cascadiadaily.com) — Women in Bellingham can join the Community Boating Center's Wild Women on the Water program, which offers weekly summer paddles and skills classes on Bellingham Bay for all experience levels. Partnering with Shifting Gears and using tiered pricing, the program aims to remove cost and confidence barriers, helping participants build kayaking skills, community, and personal resilience close to home.
   

2. Tanker overturns in south Bellingham blocks road for hours (kpug1170.com) — A tanker truck overturned Monday afternoon on Taylor Avenue between 32nd Street and Douglas Avenue in Bellingham's Happy Valley neighborhood, closing the road for hours and forcing nearby Joe's Gardens to shut early. Police and fire crews, including HAZMAT teams, monitored the tanker for leaks while working to right and tow it, and officials are still determining what the truck was carrying.
   

3. Live music calendar: Sept. 25–Oct. 4, 2026 (cascadiadaily.com) — If you're looking to hear live music around Bellingham, the next two weeks are packed with options from campus shows at Western to big concerts at Mount Baker Theatre and intimate sets in local bars and breweries. The calendar runs Sept. 25 through Oct. 4, with detailed dates, times, and venues so you can plan your nights out across Bellingham and Whatcom County.
   

4. Wild Week 3 in prep football, Seahawks win 10th straight over Cards, Penix to make season debut on Thursday and more (mybellinghamnow.com) — Bellingham High's football team notched a 23–12 win over Lakewood in a busy week for prep sports across Whatcom County. The roundup also highlights Seahawks, Huskies, Cougars, and Mariners results, giving local fans a quick catch-up on both hometown and statewide teams.
   

5. Bellingham files suit against federal agencies over 'unlawful' grant conditions (bellinghamherald.com) — Bellingham is suing several federal agencies, arguing new Trump-era conditions on grants are unconstitutional and threaten more than half a million dollars the city expects for public safety and other services. City leaders say they haven't signed a key DOJ grant for the police motorcycle unit because of the disputed rules and are joining regional partners to protect already-approved funding.
