Moses Lake School District adopts budget, restores levy-funded programs (bellinghamherald.com) — Moses Lake School District has adopted a 2026-27 budget that restores levy-funded programs, adds instructional time and expands music, PE, athletics and library staffing using new levy and state assistance dollars. Leaders say they're honoring promises to voters while cautiously budgeting for lower enrollment and gaps in state funding, aiming to improve student experiences without jeopardizing long-term finances. 
2. 'I have been incredibly blessed' (tri-cityherald.com) — A Moses Lake native who once led Moses Lake Christian Academy, LeAnne Parton is stepping down after 14 years heading the Big Bend Community College Foundation. Under her leadership, scholarships for local and regional students more than doubled, and her assistant director Wendi Stark will now take over to keep that momentum going for Moses Lake–area learners.
3. Moses Lake man dies in Royal City collision (columbiabasinherald.com) — A 47-year-old Moses Lake man, Patrick Champion, died Tuesday when another car reportedly crossed the centerline and hit his vehicle head-on near Royal City. Investigators with the Grant County Sheriff's Office later revised their findings, now saying the other driver, not Champion, crossed into the wrong lane.
4. Active fires in Wash. exceed $500 million in costs (tri-cityherald.com) — Wildfire suppression costs across Washington have climbed past $557 million, with more than 20 major fires still burning from Whatcom County to the Columbia Basin and Okanogan Highlands. From Moses Lake, state officials warn the season is far from over, urging residents to obey burn bans, avoid spark-causing activities and keep evacuation plans ready while they wait for season-ending rains.
